Port Renfrew is amazing. Gas can be purchased from only a few minutes drive away which is awesome. The campground is nice, pretty friendly people but the booking system or means of getting in touch with the managers of the campground is basically NON-EXISTENT. Good luck trying to make a reservation, you might hear back, you might not. If you hear back, you've got one shot. I don't believe they have email, or phone, or anything - so you basically have to show up and take your chances at getting a site. Good luck! ;)

OK this is going to be as constructive as possible - We turned up to this campground at 9.15pm on a Friday night on a summers weekend - not having booked... we couldn't get hold of the office, so we pitched up on an available site - (there were a few in a row open) I know that some people have wrote on here that they couldn't contact the office, but I met a family that managed to call, book and call again a couple other times to confirm adding on tents to their site... I believe it has a lot to do with the time of day - this place has no cell reception so if the camp owner isn't in the main office, and is doing the rounds you wont be able to get hold of them - So just keep trying - I would guess 9am - 11am would be best, when they arrive at the office. So other than that, we managed to get in but had to move the next day, because the site was booked that we had pitched up on in the dark... they moved us to a 'half site' literally one across from where we pitched, there were 4 of us and 2 tents. It seemed it was pointless having us move into that really tiny space when only one really small tent arrived to pitch up where we had moved from... and they had an extra 'half space' next to us... anyway, we were happy they were OK with us just pitching up in the night... we stayed for 2 nights. The campsite and the facilities are OK - standard pit toilets, they don't have bear proof garbage, the crows were pulling out all the trash that they could in the morning, but the staff cleaned them out a few times while we were there, including the pit toilets. The BEST part about this campground is that the views and surrounding areas are beautiful!! I would recommend this place :) and will most definitely be going back.

Always a favourite when visiting Port Renfrew. Some of the campsites are right on the ocean. Walking distance to the local general store.

If you want basic/rustic this is an amazing place! The sound of the waves crashing on the shore reminds us how powerful nature is. Fun beach combing with all the driftwood that washes ashore. It can be cool, windy, foggy and damp even in the height of summer so bring warm clothing. Some improvements have been made by the Pacheedaht First Nations people whose land the campground is on. The road through the campground has been raised and levelled so no more ruts! Unfortunately, the actual sites were not also raised to accommodate and it was difficult getting our trailer in and out without nearly burying the stabilizer jacks. (Looks like this is more of an issue with just a few sites.) Some site numbers have been changed which we didn't realize until we got there and found we did not get the site we we booked. Our site hadn't been cleaned either (why can't people take their garbage to the bins anyway?) Out houses have hand freshener. A brand new office/store/shower building is under construction. Not aware of completion date but likely 2018. Long over due. Word is several of the waterfront sites on the north side camp ground will be divided over the winter. Hopefully a new site map will be posted. Rates are more expensive this year at $30 for unserviced sites and $35 for waterfront unserviced. Don't know about serviced sites. Improvements justify the increase. Bring long extension cords if using power and ditto for water. No sewer/sani. I'd like to see the sites be better tended and levelled so no one trips but other than that things seem to be going in the right direction here. The Pacheedaht people should be very proud of this beautiful place! We have friends who have been coming here for 30 years. It's not hard to understand why!
